A famous location where you can rent a rowboat and get up close to the Manai waterfall which has been selected as one of the top 100 waterfalls of Japan. In the Japanese mythology, this lake was originally dry. It is said that a deity planted the seed of water  here, which became the source of the water. The gorge is designated as a scenic location and natural monument of Japan whose beauty changes depending on the season you visit. It is not only a stunning location but a spiritual place where you can feel the power of nature. Access: Get off the bus at the Takachiho stop. Around 10 min walk. Car Park available.

Reservations for renting a boat can be made on the website. (Try Google Translate since the website is only in Japanese)

The most southern Ski Field in Japan. At an elevation of 1,610m the snow here is like dried powder. Notable courses include the Paradise Course, which is the longest course (1,000m) that also has the biggest elevation difference (190m) in Kyushu and the Dynamic Course, which is quite difficult with a maximum angle of 30°. But neophytes need not worry, there is also a beginner’s course. Skiers of all levels can enjoy the diverse courses at Gokase Highland Ski Field.
